Crisco Shortcrust Pastry
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup Crisco
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- cold water
Method
- 1 Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
- 2 Chop Crisco into the flour using a floured knife until the mixture resembles meal.
- 3 Gradually add a well-beaten egg mixed with lemon juice.
- 4 Add sufficient cold water to hold the mixture together.
- 5 Roll the pastry into a ball with a knife.
- 6 Let stand in a cool place for one hour, then roll out lightly.
- 7 Bake in a hot oven (425°F).
