Crisco Shortcrust Pastry

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • cold water

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
  2. 2 Chop Crisco into the flour using a floured knife until the mixture resembles meal.
  3. 3 Gradually add a well-beaten egg mixed with lemon juice.
  4. 4 Add sufficient cold water to hold the mixture together.
  5. 5 Roll the pastry into a ball with a knife.
  6. 6 Let stand in a cool place for one hour, then roll out lightly.
  7. 7 Bake in a hot oven (425°F).
