Creamy Tomato Soup With Cloves

Ingredients

  • 12 tomatoes, cut up
  • Water to cover tomatoes
  • 1/8 tsp mustard
  • Salt to taste
  • 24 cloves
  • 2 heaping tbsp flour
  • 1 egg-sized piece of butter

Method

  1. 1 Place tomatoes and enough water to cover them in a pot with mustard, salt, and cloves. Stew thoroughly until soft.
  2. 2 Strain the mixture to remove solids and spices, reserving the liquid.
  3. 3 Rub flour and butter together until combined.
  4. 4 Add the flour-butter mixture to the strained liquid and boil until thickened.
