Creamy Red Cabbage With Apples

Ingredients

  • 1 red cabbage, trimmed and shredded
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 tart apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup cream

Method

  1. 1 Trim and shred the red cabbage, then soak it in cold water for one hour. Drain and parboil for five minutes, then drain again.
  2. 2 In a large pan, fry the chopped onion in butter until soft. Add the cabbage and chopped apples.
  3. 3 Season with salt and pepper. Cook uncovered for thirty minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4 Stir in the cream, reheat gently, and serve.
