Creamy Red Cabbage With Apples
Ingredients
- 1 red cabbage, trimmed and shredded
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 tart apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup cream
Method
- 1 Trim and shred the red cabbage, then soak it in cold water for one hour. Drain and parboil for five minutes, then drain again.
- 2 In a large pan, fry the chopped onion in butter until soft. Add the cabbage and chopped apples.
- 3 Season with salt and pepper. Cook uncovered for thirty minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4 Stir in the cream, reheat gently, and serve.
