Creamy Marasmius Oreades Mushroom Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp flour
- ½ cup water or milk
- 1 pint Marasmius oreades mushrooms
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Buttered toast or meat for serving
Method
- 1 If mushrooms are dry, soak them in water briefly, then drain.
- 2 Melt 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan and bubble gently.
- 3 Add 1 tsp flour and cook for a few minutes without browning.
- 4 Stir in ½ cup water (for meat) or milk (for toast) until smooth.
- 5 Add the mushrooms and simmer for 15 minutes.
- 6 Season with salt and pepper, then pour over toast or meat.
