Creamy Cornmeal Mush

Ingredients

  • 1 pint cornmeal
  • Salted water
  • 1 pint milk (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt (if using milk method)

Method

  1. 1 Sprinkle cornmeal into rapidly boiling salted water while stirring constantly.
  2. 2 Cook for 30 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. 3 Serve hot with milk, butter, sugar, or syrup.
  4. 4 For cold serving, cut into slices and brown in a sauté pan.
