Creamy Codfish Chowder

Ingredients

  • 2/3 bowlful salt codfish
  • 1 pint sweet cream
  • 1/2 pint sweet milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons sweet milk
  • 1 large spoonful butter

Method

  1. 1 Shred the salt codfish, wash several times with fresh water, and drain well.
  2. 2 Place the codfish in a saucepan with the cream and milk; heat until nearly boiling.
  3. 3 Beat the egg, flour, and 2 tablespoons of milk together, then add to the fish.
  4. 4 Stir continually until thickened and cooked through.
  5. 5 Transfer to a hot dish and stir in the butter until melted and combined.
