Creamy Codfish Chowder
Ingredients
- 2/3 bowlful salt codfish
- 1 pint sweet cream
- 1/2 pint sweet milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 tablespoons sweet milk
- 1 large spoonful butter
Method
- 1 Shred the salt codfish, wash several times with fresh water, and drain well.
- 2 Place the codfish in a saucepan with the cream and milk; heat until nearly boiling.
- 3 Beat the egg, flour, and 2 tablespoons of milk together, then add to the fish.
- 4 Stir continually until thickened and cooked through.
- 5 Transfer to a hot dish and stir in the butter until melted and combined.
