Creamy Cod Fish Chowder
Ingredients
- 3 lbs fresh codfish, boiled and deboned
- 2 onions, chopped fine
- ½ lb salt pork, cut into small dice
- 6 potatoes, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup water
- Salt and white pepper to taste
- 1-2 tbsp flour
- 1½ cups milk
- Oyster crackers, for serving
Method
- 1 Chop onions and fry with diced salt pork until softened.
- 2 Add potatoes, water, salt, and pepper; stew for 20 minutes.
- 3 Thicken slightly with flour, then stir in milk and bring to a boil.
- 4 Add the boiled, deboned codfish and heat through.
- 5 Serve over oyster crackers in a hot tureen.
