Creamy Butter Stewed Mushrooms
Ingredients
- mushrooms (pink underneath, white on top)
- salt
- pepper
- water
- butter
- flour
- cream
Method
- 1 Peel the mushrooms carefully, ensuring they are the safe variety with pink gills.
- 2 Sprinkle mushrooms with salt and pepper, then place in a stew pan with a little water and a lump of butter.
- 3 Boil rapidly for ten minutes, stirring in a thickening made of flour and cream.
- 4 Alternatively, fry the mushrooms in butter or broil them on a gridiron.
