Creamy Boiled Cornmeal Mush

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Milk or cream for serving
  • Sugar for serving

Method

  1. 1 Bring 4 cups of water to a galloping boil and salt it.
  2. 2 Slowly sprinkle in 1 cup of cornmeal while stirring frequently.
  3. 3 Boil for at least one hour, stirring often, until thick.
  4. 4 Serve hot with milk or cream and sugar, or cool for frying.
