  • 1/2 pound mushrooms
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup cream
  • toast or crackers for serving

Method

  1. 1 Wipe mushrooms, peel caps, and break into pieces. Reserve stems for another use.
  2. 2 Melt butter in a skillet and sauté the mushroom pieces until tender.
  3. 3 Dust with salt and pepper, then stir in flour and cook briefly.
  4. 4 Gradually add cream, stirring constantly until the sauce boils.
  5. 5 Simmer for a few minutes, then serve over toast or crackers.
