Creamed Mushrooms On Toast
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound mushrooms
- 3 tablespoons butter
- salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup cream
- toast or crackers for serving
Method
- 1 Wipe mushrooms, peel caps, and break into pieces. Reserve stems for another use.
- 2 Melt butter in a skillet and sauté the mushroom pieces until tender.
- 3 Dust with salt and pepper, then stir in flour and cook briefly.
- 4 Gradually add cream, stirring constantly until the sauce boils.
- 5 Simmer for a few minutes, then serve over toast or crackers.
