  • 1 medium cabbage
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 pint milk

Method

  1. 1 Cut cabbage into quarters, remove stem, and boil for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water to reduce odor.
  2. 2 Chop the cooled cabbage finely and season with salt and pepper.
  3. 3 Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour to make a smooth paste, then slowly add milk.
  4. 4 Cook the sauce slowly for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  5. 5 Combine the cabbage with the hot sauce and serve.
