Creamed Cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 pint milk
Method
- 1 Cut cabbage into quarters, remove stem, and boil for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water to reduce odor.
- 2 Chop the cooled cabbage finely and season with salt and pepper.
- 3 Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour to make a smooth paste, then slowly add milk.
- 4 Cook the sauce slowly for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- 5 Combine the cabbage with the hot sauce and serve.
