Cream Of Tartar Ginger Beer With Lemon Slices
Ingredients
- 2 gallons boiling water
- 2 pounds brown sugar
- 1.5 ounces cream of tartar
- 1.5 ounces pounded ginger
- 0.5 pint good yeast
- 1-2 lemons, sliced (optional)
Method
- 1 Pour boiling water over brown sugar, cream of tartar, and ginger. Stir well.
- 2 Transfer mixture to a small cask or large container. Let cool until milk warm.
- 3 Add yeast, shake well, and seal tightly. Let ferment for 24 hours.
- 4 Bottle the liquid, corking tightly. Add lemon slices if desired.
- 5 Let bottle for 10 days until sparkling, then refrigerate and serve cold.
