Cream of Tartar Buttermilk Scones
Ingredients
- 1 quart flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 egg-sized piece butter
- 1 tsp salt
- enough buttermilk to thicken
Method
- 1 Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt together.
- 2 Rub in an egg-sized piece of butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Add enough buttermilk to form a thick dough.
- 4 Shape into scones and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until golden.
