Cornstarch Vanilla Pastry Cream
Ingredients
- 5 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 heaping tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or flavoring of choice)
Method
- 1 Beat egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch together in a saucepan until smooth.
- 2 Gradually stir in the milk, then place over medium heat.
- 3 Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
- 4 Remove from heat, stir in your chosen flavoring, and let cool.
