Cornstarch Thickened Vanilla Custard
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 pint milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 oz granulated sugar
- Vanilla or other flavoring
Method
- 1 Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- 2 Mix cornstarch with a little cold milk until smooth, then stir into the boiling milk.
- 3 Boil, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes.
- 4 Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then beat in egg yolks.
- 5 Return to heat briefly to cook eggs without curdling, then flavor and chill.
