Cornmeal Yeast Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 quart cornmeal
  • 1 egg-sized piece butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • New milk, as needed
  • 1 spoonful yeast

Method

  1. 1 Rub an egg-sized piece of butter into 1 quart of cornmeal and add salt.
  2. 2 Mix in 2 eggs and enough new milk to form a batter.
  3. 3 Stir in 1 spoonful of yeast and let rise by the fire for 1 hour.
  4. 4 Butter small pans, pour in the batter, and bake with a quick heat.
