Cornmeal Yeast Bread
Ingredients
- 1 quart cornmeal
- 1 egg-sized piece butter
- Salt to taste
- 2 eggs
- New milk, as needed
- 1 spoonful yeast
Method
- 1 Rub an egg-sized piece of butter into 1 quart of cornmeal and add salt.
- 2 Mix in 2 eggs and enough new milk to form a batter.
- 3 Stir in 1 spoonful of yeast and let rise by the fire for 1 hour.
- 4 Butter small pans, pour in the batter, and bake with a quick heat.
