  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 tablespoon fat

Method

  1. 1 Cook cornmeal and milk in a double boiler for 10 minutes.
  2. 2 Sift the dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder) together.
  3. 3 Combine the cooked cornmeal mixture, dry ingredients, corn syrup, beaten egg yolks, fat, and beaten egg whites.
