Cornmeal Drop Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 cup bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/3 cups milk
- 2 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 4 tablespoons fat
- 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
Method
- 1 Sift the dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, salt, cream of tartar, and soda) together.
- 2 Cut in the fat until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Add the milk and stir until just combined.
- 4 Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a greased baking sheet.
- 5 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
