Cooked Steel Cut Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. 1 Bring a quart of water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. 2 Stir in 1 cup of oatmeal. Cook in a double boiler until very soft, following package directions.
  3. 3 Keep covered while cooking, then remove lid to let moisture evaporate until the desired consistency is reached.
  4. 4 Stir lightly and occasionally to prevent sticking without breaking the grains.
