Cooked Steel Cut Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 quart water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- 1 Bring a quart of water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- 2 Stir in 1 cup of oatmeal. Cook in a double boiler until very soft, following package directions.
- 3 Keep covered while cooking, then remove lid to let moisture evaporate until the desired consistency is reached.
- 4 Stir lightly and occasionally to prevent sticking without breaking the grains.
