Coconut Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sweet milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 3 cups sugar
- 4½ cups flour
- 4 eggs, beaten separately
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 2 Add beaten eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- 3 In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
- 4 Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
- 5 Fold in shredded coconut. Pour into prepared pans and bake until done.
