Clove Spiced Apple Sauce
Ingredients
- 12 apples
- 12 lumps sugar
- 1 pint water
- 1 ounce butter
- 3 to 4 cloves
Method
- 1 Peel, core, and slice the apples.
- 2 Dissolve the sugar in the water in a stewpan, then add the apples and cloves.
- 3 Simmer gently until the apples are quite tender.
- 4 Rub the mixture through a hair sieve with a wooden spoon.
- 5 Return to the stewpan, stir in the butter, and continue stirring until thoroughly incorporated.
