  • 1 pound butter
  • 1 pound sifted sugar
  • 9 eggs
  • 1 pound flour

Method

  1. 1 Cream 1 pound of butter and 1 pound of sifted sugar together until quite smooth.
  2. 2 Beat 9 eggs and add them by degrees to the butter mixture, beating for 20 minutes.
  3. 3 Lightly mix in 1 pound of flour.
  4. 4 Place batter into a paper-cased hoop on a baking plate.
  5. 5 Bake for about 1 hour in a moderate oven (350°F).
