Classic Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 pound butter
- 1 pound sifted sugar
- 9 eggs
- 1 pound flour
Method
- 1 Cream 1 pound of butter and 1 pound of sifted sugar together until quite smooth.
- 2 Beat 9 eggs and add them by degrees to the butter mixture, beating for 20 minutes.
- 3 Lightly mix in 1 pound of flour.
- 4 Place batter into a paper-cased hoop on a baking plate.
- 5 Bake for about 1 hour in a moderate oven (350°F).
