Classic Madeira Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb fine wheatmeal
- 1/2 lb castor sugar
- 1/2 lb butter
- 5 eggs
- flavoring to taste
Method
- 1 Beat the butter to a cream.
- 2 Add the sugar, then the well-beaten eggs, the meal, and the flavoring.
- 3 Line a cake tin with buttered paper.
- 4 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
