Classic French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • butter or oil for frying
  • syrup or jelly for serving

Method

  1. 1 Beat the egg and mix in the milk, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2 Dip each slice of bread into the liquid, turning quickly to coat both sides.
  3. 3 Place bread in a hot frying pan with butter or oil and sauté until the underside is brown.
  4. 4 Turn the slices and brown the other side.
  5. 5 Serve hot with syrup or jelly.
