Classic Cottage Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups flour, sifted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 heaping tablespoon butter
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Method

  1. 1 Beat butter and sugar together until creamy.
  2. 2 Add well-beaten egg yolks and mix well.
  3. 3 Alternately add milk and flour (mixed with baking powder) to the batter.
  4. 4 Gently fold in egg whites beaten to stiff peaks.
  5. 5 Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. 6 Serve hot with sauce.
