Claret Stewed Pears Over Rice
Ingredients
- 4 large pears, peeled, split, and cored
- 2 cups claret
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup rice
- Milk, for boiling rice
- Sweetener and flavoring to taste
Method
- 1 Boil rice in milk until soft, adding sweetener and flavoring to taste.
- 2 Cook pears in claret and sugar until tender.
- 3 Spread the cooked rice in a serving dish.
- 4 Arrange the stewed pears on top of the rice.
- 5 Reduce the cooking syrup by rapid boiling.
- 6 Pour the reduced syrup over the pears and serve ice cold.
