Citrus Apple Puff Pastry Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges
  • 2 lemons
  • 5 quarts water
  • 1 pound loaf sugar
  • 1 pint water
  • 12 pippin apples, peeled and cored
  • puff pastry

Method

  1. 1 Boil oranges and lemons in 5 quarts water until rinds are tender. Remove, cool, slice thin, and remove seeds.
  2. 2 Dissolve sugar in 1 pint water by boiling. Add peeled, cored apples and the sliced citrus. Stew until tender.
  3. 3 Line a dish with puff pastry. Layer the fruit mixture inside. Pour syrup over the top.
  4. 4 Cover with puff pastry and add decorative pastry strips. Bake until golden brown.
