Citrus And Berry Brandy Punch

Ingredients

  • 1 lb granulated sugar
  • 6 lemons
  • 1 box strawberries
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 6 oranges, sliced
  • 1 pineapple, cut into small pieces
  • 1 quart brandy
  • 1 quart sherry wine
  • 1 quart Madeira wine
  • 4 quarts champagne
  • 2 quarts carbonated water
  • 1 large block of clear ice

Method

  1. 1 Bruise the skins of 6 lemons and rub them into 1 lb of sugar to infuse the citrus oils.
  2. 2 Place the infused sugar in a large punch bowl. Add the sliced lemons, oranges, pineapple, and strawberries.
  3. 3 Pour in the brandy, sherry, and Madeira wine. Stir well to combine and dissolve the sugar.
  4. 4 Transfer the mixture to a second bowl containing a large block of clear ice to keep it chilled without diluting too quickly.
  5. 5 Just before serving, add the champagne and carbonated water. Stir gently and serve in punch glasses with fruit.
