Citron Raisin Sweet Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 cup Crisco
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped citron peel
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 1 cup scalded milk
- 1 egg
- 5-1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- 1 Scald milk, add half the sugar and salt. When lukewarm, add yeast dissolved in water and 1-1/2 cups flour. Mix, cover, and let rise until light.
- 2 Add Crisco, remaining sugar, flour, raisins, citron peel, and lemon extract. Knead lightly, cover, and let rise again.
- 3 Divide into small pieces, place on greased tins, and let rise. Brush with beaten egg and bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 20 minutes.
