Cinnamon Nutmeg Apple Dumplings
Ingredients
- short pie crust
- apples (same size)
- sugar
- butter
- ground cinnamon
- nutmeg
- egg white
- sugar (for glaze)
Method
- 1 Roll out short pie crust and cut into squares large enough to cover each apple.
- 2 Peel apples, remove cores, and fill the center with sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- 3 Place an apple in the center of each crust square; wet edges with egg white and fold over, sealing points on top.
- 4 Pinch and flute the edges to seal well, ensuring juices do not escape.
- 5 Brush tops with egg and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 40 minutes until tender but holding shape.
- 6 Dust with sugar ten minutes before removing from oven to create a glaze.
