Chopped Meat Casserole With Grated Onion
Ingredients
- 3 cups cold meat, cut into small pieces
- 6-7 potatoes, peeled, boiled, and mashed
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1 cup boiling milk
- 1 1/2 cups gravy or stock thickened with 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp butter or dripping
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- 1 Place cut meat in a deep earthen dish. Grate onion into thickened gravy and pour over meat.
- 2 Mash boiled potatoes with salt, pepper, milk, and butter until smooth.
- 3 Spread potato mixture over the meat. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until nicely browned.
