Chocolate Sauce Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 heaping tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp butter
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 3 oz chocolate
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup boiling water
- ¼ tsp vanilla
Method
- 1 Mix baking powder with flour and sift.
- 2 Cream butter and sugar, then beat in egg.
- 3 Dissolve salt in milk and add to butter mixture.
- 4 Add flour and beat well together.
- 5 Turn batter into a tube cake tin.
- 6 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 25 minutes.
- 7 Turn pudding onto a dish, bottom side up.
- 8 Melt chocolate, then stir in sugar and boiling water until smooth.
- 9 Stir vanilla into the chocolate sauce and serve with pudding.
