Chocolate Pudding With Whipped Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 quart milk
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ounces chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • whipped cream
  • vanilla extract

Method

  1. 1 Reserve 1/2 cup milk; heat the remaining 3 1/2 cups in a double boiler.
  2. 2 Mix cornstarch with reserved cold milk. Beat eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt; add to cornstarch mixture.
  3. 3 Stir egg mixture into hot milk, beating well for one minute.
  4. 4 Melt chocolate with 4 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons boiling water over heat until smooth.
  5. 5 Beat melted chocolate into hot pudding. Cook 10 minutes total from adding eggs.
  6. 6 Serve cold with powdered sugar and cream, or mold and fill center with vanilla whipped cream.
