Chocolate Molasses Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup glucose
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 squares Baker's Premium Chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 quarts popped corn, well salted

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar, glucose, and water in a saucepan. Stir over heat until sugar melts, then wash down sides of pan.
  2. 2 Cover and boil for 3-4 minutes. Remove cover and cook without stirring until mixture reaches hard ball stage.
  3. 3 Stir in molasses and butter. Cook until brittle in cold water, then remove from heat.
  4. 4 Once bubbling stops, stir in melted chocolate and vanilla until evenly mixed.
  5. 5 Pour over warm, salted popcorn (discard hard kernels). Mix thoroughly.
  6. 6 With buttered hands, roll mixture into small balls. Press gently just enough to hold shape.
