Chocolate Molasses Popcorn Balls
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1/3 cup glucose
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 squares Baker's Premium Chocolate
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 quarts popped corn, well salted
Method
- 1 Combine sugar, glucose, and water in a saucepan. Stir over heat until sugar melts, then wash down sides of pan.
- 2 Cover and boil for 3-4 minutes. Remove cover and cook without stirring until mixture reaches hard ball stage.
- 3 Stir in molasses and butter. Cook until brittle in cold water, then remove from heat.
- 4 Once bubbling stops, stir in melted chocolate and vanilla until evenly mixed.
- 5 Pour over warm, salted popcorn (discard hard kernels). Mix thoroughly.
- 6 With buttered hands, roll mixture into small balls. Press gently just enough to hold shape.
