Chocolate Molasses Fudge

Ingredients

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound chocolate, finely grated
  • 1/2 egg-sized piece of butter

Method

  1. 1 Boil the milk and molasses together in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Grate the chocolate fine and mix with a small amount of the boiling liquid to form a smooth paste.
  3. 3 Stir the chocolate paste and sugar into the remaining boiling liquid.
  4. 4 Add the butter and boil for 20 minutes.
  5. 5 Test for hardness by dropping a bit into cold water; if it hardens, pour into a buttered dish and cut when set.
