Chocolate Marble Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 egg whites
- 1 packet (approx. 0.5 oz) baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar or 1 tsp grated lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
Method
- 1 Cream butter and sugar together for 15 minutes until light and fluffy.
- 2 Beat in egg yolks one at a time, then mix in milk and flour until smooth.
- 3 Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and baking powder. Stir in vanilla or lemon zest.
- 4 Divide batter in half. Mix cocoa powder into one half until fully incorporated.
- 5 Alternately spoon dollops of plain and chocolate batter into a buttered pan.
- 6 Bake at 350°F for 1 hour until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
