Chocolate Fudge Squares

Ingredients

• 2 cups sugar
• 3/4 cup milk or cream
• 1 generous tablespoon butter
• 3 ounces chocolate
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 tablespoon vanilla

Method

1. 1 Combine 2 cups sugar, 3/4 cup milk or cream, 1 generous tablespoon butter, and 3 ounces chocolate in a saucepan.
2. 2 Cook over heat, stirring often, until a small amount dropped in ice water hardens.
3. 3 Stir in 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon vanilla.
4. 4 Pour into a well-buttered pan to a depth of about 3/4 inch.
5. 5 When nearly cold, cut into squares and let harden in a cool place.
