Chocolate Coated Fig And Walnut Truffles

Ingredients

  • 5 figs
  • 3-4 tbsp water or sherry
  • ½ cup English walnut meats
  • Powdered sugar, as needed
  • Fondant
  • 3-4 oz Baker's chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method

  1. 1 Remove stems and hard spots from figs. Steam with water or sherry in a double boiler until softened.
  2. 2 Add walnuts and chop the mixture very fine.
  3. 3 Mix in powdered sugar until the consistency allows shaping into balls.
  4. 4 Melt chocolate and combine with fondant and vanilla.
  5. 5 Coat the fig-nut balls in the chocolate mixture and drop onto waxed paper to set.
