  • 3 oz semi-sweet chocolate, grated
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cup sifted pastry flour
  • 1 ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two shallow cake pans.
  2. 2 Grate the chocolate and set aside.
  3. 3 Beat butter until creamy, then gradually beat in sugar.
  4. 4 Mix in milk, vanilla, and beaten eggs.
  5. 5 Add chocolate, then fold in flour mixed with baking powder.
  6. 6 Pour batter into pans and bake for 25 minutes.
