  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1.25 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 egg white (for frosting)

Method

  1. 1 Melt chocolate in 0.5 cup milk. Beat in 2 eggs, separating one white for frosting.
  2. 2 Stir in 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 0.5 cup milk, and 1.25 cups flour.
  3. 3 Pour batter into a greased dripping pan and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until done.
  4. 4 For frosting, boil 1 cup sugar with a little water until thick, then beat in the reserved egg white.
