Chocolate Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 pint milk
  • 0.5 lb stale bread
  • 1 oz butter
  • 0.25 lb sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites

Method

  1. 1 Boil bread in milk, stirring until a thick paste forms.
  2. 2 Stir in butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla.
  3. 3 Remove from heat and mix in egg yolks.
  4. 4 Fold in beaten egg whites until frothy.
  5. 5 Pour into a buttered dish and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
