Chilled Bacon Fat Red Cabbage Slaw

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 2 onions, chopped fine
  • 1 green pepper, chopped fine
  • 1 tablespoon bacon fat
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard

Method

  1. 1 Shred the cabbage and place it in a bowl. Add the chopped onions and green pepper.
  2. 2 In a saucepan, heat the bacon fat, vinegar, salt, white pepper, and mustard to the boiling point.
  3. 3 Pour the hot liquid over the cabbage mixture. Chill thoroughly and serve.
