Cheesy Au Gratin Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • Black pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a large casserole dish.
  2. 2 Melt margarine in a saucepan and stir in flour to create a roux.
  3. 3 Gradually whisk in milk and cook until slightly thickened, then remove from heat.
  4. 4 Stir in most of the cheese, salt, and pepper until melted and smooth.
