Caraway Seed Cake With Beaten Egg Whites
Ingredients
- 1 lb all-purpose flour
- 4 oz unsalted butter
- 6 oz granulated sugar
- 0.5 oz caraway seeds
- 0.5 pint milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 large eggs
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a cake tin.
- 2 Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Stir in the sugar and caraway seeds.
- 4 Mix the egg yolks with the milk, then combine with the dry ingredients.
- 5 Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter.
- 6 Bake for 1.5 hours, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
