  • 4 oz unsalted butter
  • 6 oz granulated sugar
  • 0.5 oz caraway seeds
  • 0.5 pint milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 large eggs

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a cake tin.
  2. 2 Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. 3 Stir in the sugar and caraway seeds.
  4. 4 Mix the egg yolks with the milk, then combine with the dry ingredients.
  5. 5 Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter.
  6. 6 Bake for 1.5 hours, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
