Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar, water, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until melted and caramelized.
  2. 2 Pour the caramel into a pudding dish, swirling to coat the bottom and sides evenly.
  3. 3 In a mixing bowl, combine applesauce, brown sugar, bread crumbs, and nuts. Mix until well blended.
  4. 4 Pour the mixture into the prepared caramel-lined dish.
  5. 5 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 40 minutes.
