Canned Whole Strawberries In Syrup
Ingredients
- Strawberries, picked, washed, drained, and hulled
- Sugar (amount equal to weight of strawberries)
- Water (for syrup)
Method
- 1 Fill glass jars with the prepared strawberries.
- 2 Prepare a simple syrup by dissolving sugar in water and cooking for 15 minutes.
- 3 Pour the hot syrup over the berries to fill the jars. Let stand for 15 minutes until fruit shrinks, then add more berries to fill jars.
- 4 Seal jars tightly and place them on a trivet in a kettle of cold water.
- 5 Heat the water to boiling, then maintain just below boiling for 1 hour.
