Canned Strawberries In Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, raspberries, or plums

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar and water in a saucepan; boil until a rich syrup forms.
  2. 2 Remove syrup from heat and let it cool completely.
  3. 3 Pack raw, uncrushed fruit tightly into clean jars.
  4. 4 Pour the cold syrup over the fruit, filling the jars to the neck.
  5. 5 Place jars in a large pot of cold water, using straw or chips to separate them.
  6. 6 Boil the water for 15 minutes.
  7. 7 Remove jars, add hot syrup if needed to top off, seal with rubber rings and lids, and store in a cool, dark place.
