Canned Strawberries In Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 pound sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, raspberries, or plums
Method
- 1 Combine sugar and water in a saucepan; boil until a rich syrup forms.
- 2 Remove syrup from heat and let it cool completely.
- 3 Pack raw, uncrushed fruit tightly into clean jars.
- 4 Pour the cold syrup over the fruit, filling the jars to the neck.
- 5 Place jars in a large pot of cold water, using straw or chips to separate them.
- 6 Boil the water for 15 minutes.
- 7 Remove jars, add hot syrup if needed to top off, seal with rubber rings and lids, and store in a cool, dark place.
