Ingredients

  • 1 lb granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup blanched and finely chopped almonds, peanuts, or mixed nuts

Method

  1. 1 Dissolve the sugar and salt in a heavy skillet or spider over medium heat without adding water, stirring constantly until completely melted.
  2. 2 Quickly mix in the chopped nuts and pour the mixture immediately into a well-greased pan.
  3. 3 While still warm, mark the candy into squares.
  4. 4 Allow to cool completely, then pound or grind into fine pieces to sprinkle over custards.
