Buttermilk Waffles With Egg Whites
Ingredients
- 1 quart milk
- ¼ pound butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pint sifted flour
- 4 eggs, separated
- 2 tsp baking powder
Method
- 1 Warm the milk and melt the butter into it. Stir in the salt and let the mixture cool completely.
- 2 Whisk the sifted flour into the cooled milk mixture. Add the egg yolks and beat until smooth.
- 3 Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold the whites gently into the batter.
- 4 Sprinkle the baking powder over the batter and stir gently to combine. Cook on a hot waffle iron until golden.
