Buttermilk Waffles With Browned Butter
Ingredients
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup softened butter
- 3 egg yolks, well-beaten
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
Method
- 1 Make a smooth paste of the sifted flour and milk.
- 2 Add the softened butter, well-beaten egg yolks, and stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 3 Just before baking, stir in the heaping teaspoon of baking powder.
- 4 Beat the batter very hard for five minutes.
- 5 Bake in a very hot waffle iron until crisp.
